Rafael Nadal declared himself happy with his recovery from injury as he breezed into the last 16 of the BNP Paribas Open.
Nadal had no trouble in routing Croatian Mario Ancic 6-2 6-2 as he continued his comeback from a knee injury which had sidelined him since the quarter-finals of the Australian Open at the start of the year.
The Spaniard was not required to deal with a break point and prevailed four times on Ancic's normally formidable serve.
He will next face the 15th seed John Isner, who prevailed 7-6 (7/3) 6-4 in an all-American clash with Sam Querrey.
"Coming back from an injury you have to start slowly," Nadal told Sky Sports 2.
"But I am pleased with the way I am playing, and I am in the next round so that is the important thing."
He added: "I am playing at the good level with my forehand when I touch the ball all the time.
"I try to do something - playing aggressive, playing long, changing the direction - so that's very important."
Second seed Novak Djokovic was forced to battle through a final-set tie-break to reach the last 16.
All seemed to be going to plan for the Serbian as he took the opening set 6-3 with a solitary break, but Kohlschreiber upped his first-serve percentage to 73% in the second and broke three times to take the set 6-2 and level the match.
Two breaks apiece saw a topsy-turvy third set go the distance, but Djokovic prevailed 7/3 in the tie-break to clinch victory in two hours and 35 minutes.
Tenth-seeded Fernando Verdasco of Spain was a high-profile victim as he crashed out 6-0 6-3 at the hands of 19th-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych in 59 just minutes.
Berdych now meets Viktor Troicki of Serbia, seeded 29, who enjoyed a walkover win on Sunday due to Nikolay Davydenko's broken wrist.
Eleventh seed Juan Carlos Ferrero crashed out in three sets to Juan Monaco.
The Argentinian, seeded 21st, took the opener on a tie break and, after Ferrero levelled courtesy of his only break, he responded to win 7-6 (7/2) 3-6 6-3.
Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain defeated 26th-seeded Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci in three sets, 4-6 6-2 6-1, while Ivan Ljubicic, the 20th seed from Croatia, was a 6-2 6-3 winner over Argentinian qualifier Brian Dabul.

Clijsters,azarenka exit-indianwells
Kim Clijsters and Victoria Azarenka crashed out in contrasting styles at the BNP Paribas Open in India Wells.
Azarenka slumped to a 7-6 (7/4) 6-2 reverse at the hands of 28th-seeded Spaniard Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, while the 14th-seeded Clijsters, who has made a strong return to the WTA Tour after coming out of retirement, had no answer to Russian 23rd seed Alisa Kleybanova, who posted a 6-4 1-6 7-6 (7/4) triumph.
Ninth seed Flavia Pennetta was another eye-catching casualty as Shahar Peer completed a three-set victory.
Italian Pennetta had battled back from a set down to win the second on a tie-break and take the match into a decider. But her 17th-seeded Israeli opponent broke four times in a dominant third-set display to complete a 6-4 6-7 (4/7) 6-1 triumph and set up a last-16 clash against Jelena Jankovic.
Sixth seed Jankovic was forced to play her best tennis in a near three-hour encounter with Italy's Sara Errani, who took the first set in convincing fashion.
Serbian Jankovic rallied to take the second on a tie-break before just edging a keenly contested decider for a 2-6 7-6 (8/6) 6-4 win.

Nadal eases through indianwells

The third-seeded Spaniard will now meet Mario Ancic in the next round, with the unseeded Croatian having struggled past Frenchman Julien Benneteau 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-3.
Elsewhere, Novak Djokovic survived a disastrous second set to defeat Mardy Fish 6-1 0-6 6-2.
The World number two had five double faults before triumphing over the American - who is ranked 104 places below him - just as he did in the final two years ago.
Also going through was fifth seed Russian Nikolay Davydenko, who beat Ernests Gulbis 6-4 6-4.

Henin crashes out indianwells
Justine Henin will not be repeating her heroics of the Australian Open at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells after crashing out in the second round.
The Belgian, who completed a remarkable comeback from a 19-month retirement by making it to the final in Australia last month, went out 6-2 1-6 6-4 to Argentinian Gisela Dulko.
American Vania King went close to upsetting second-seeded Carolina Wozniacki - taking a 4-1 lead in the third set - but eventually lost 5-7 6-2 6-4 to the Dane.
Fourth seed Elena Dementieva was also tested before beating Olga Govortsova of Belarus 6-4 4-6 6-0 to go through.
Fifth seed Agnieszka Radwanska had a much easier time of it, however, going through when Russia's Anna Chakvetadze retired hurt while trailing 6-2 5-3.
Tenth seed Maria Sharapova fought back to beat fellow Russian Vera Dushevina 4-6 7-5 6-2.
